That's a lot of strawberries. The work took all afternoon, long after the children stopped thinking it was fun. They were all excited to start processing the fruit into jam- "Don't start without me Mommy!" "Call me when it's time to start!"
I reminded them how much they're going to enjoy this lovely home made jam and all the frozen berries come winter. How they will think back and remember how much labor went into chopping all this fruit, how nice it was working together, how much fun we had out in the fields picking all those strawberries with our friends. Then I told them to quit complaining and chop faster.
A lot of work indeed. 26 jars so far, plus about 5 gallon bags all chopped and prepped in the freezer. I think we'll go picking again tomorrow; when they're gone, they're gone till next year.
